Where will the upcoming restaurant be, and when will it start?

We announced our intention to start a restaurant quite some time ago. Naturally, the first question most people asked was about the location. The short answer is that it will be at Kallega, Nehru Nagar, near the Vivekananda College junction on the Puttur–Mangaluru highway. We will begin service on Sunday, 15th January 2023, on the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranthi. The restaurant will operate from the premises currently occupied by Hotel Keerthana.

Why this location?

Since we are based in Puttur, it made sense to set up the restaurant somewhere within the town. We prefer quieter locations, even though that might mean fewer walk-in customers. Accessibility and parking should not be a hassle for our patrons. With that in mind, we looked at bypass roads and highways around Puttur. A few options met our basic requirements.

One critical factor was sewage management. Unfortunately, most restaurants discharge untreated sewage into rainwater drains. We are very particular about proper sewage treatment before disposal. This location has a sewage treatment plant, which strongly influenced our decision.

Why take over a running restaurant?

• A running restaurant already has regular customers and an established business, so we don’t have to start from scratch.
• We tried selling our land at Kallarpe but couldn’t. So, we don’t have the funds to buy new land, construct a building, or even set up a restaurant entirely from scratch in a rented space.
• Starting a new business is always risky. There are many trials and errors in the early stages. A running restaurant has already gone through that phase.
• It comes with the basic infrastructure needed to run a restaurant. Only minor repairs, thorough cleaning, and some enhancements are required.

Overall, this approach significantly reduces both the financial investment and time needed to start operations. With just two months to go before launch, we have our work cut out for us.
